Supreme AI wasn't the challenge many of us were hoping for in the original, but after playing the Unleashed AI a couple of times in Forged Alliance, it's definitely much more brutal, especially when you're trying to get used to the unit and building additions. All of these can be given the "Unleashed" tag which means you'll have a hell of a challenge on your hands. For instance, you'll be able to choose three types of rush AI (land, air, and sea) along with a new Adaptive AI choice. The new AI options are for players that may want to practice against particular types of players. Multiplayer and skirmish remains the same in function though new maps and new AI have been added. Granted, we like to move a bit more methodically in SupCom than other RTS games, but even if we didn't, it would be a pretty long mission. So far we've played a couple of them that took more than a couple of hours to complete in total. Either way, the missions will offer up more of the same huge scale that Supreme Commander is all about. We had to concentrate nearly as hard as in an online multiplayer match to stay alive and put up the proper defenses. The AI in these missions certainly seems to be more aggressive than we remember from the original even in early missions. Many of the missions involve going out and destroying enemy bases, but you'll also occasionally have to defend yourself against seemingly unbeatable odds. After you scratch those early objectives off of your to do list, the map will expand and more enemies will come into range for you to engage and other secondary missions will also be revealed. Maps will be only partially revealed and early objectives will be closer to your main base.

Campaign missions follow the same kind of set-up that fans will remember from the original. This is certainly fun, but also means that you'll also be facing tier 3 units from enemies pretty quickly.

You'll access to tier 3 right from the get-go giving you the big guns assuming you can build up quick enough. Unlike the original, Forged Alliance campaign missions will throw your silly face right into the fire and scar you. What the campaign does do for each side is serve as an introduction to some of the new units and buildings, of which there are many small changes. Some of the secondary missions will be altered, but the overall goal will remain the same. Obviously, you'll be able to go back to the beginning and start the campaign over and play through as each faction, but the primary objectives shouldn't be different. From there, you'll need to use the same faction throughout the campaign to finish it off. Well Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance isn't going to change that formula. Either it was exactly what you were looking for or it was too much to handle and required too much time fully zoomed out on the entire map. This idea of massive, unabridged warfare had polar opposite effects on the RTS gaming population. Supreme Commander offered up a scope heretofore unseen in the realms of real-time strategy.
